German entrepreneurs interested in renewable energy and innovations
The 11th Sarajevo Business Forum (SBF) with its main topic “Nearshoring – Perspectives for the Region” will be held on May 11 and 12 in Sarajevo, and there is a growing interest of foreign entrepreneurs to participate in this year’s Forum. After successful presentations of the Sarajevo Business Forum in Bahrain, Norway, and Jordan, SBF was presented in Germany. The visit to Germany and German institutions was held as part of the visit of the delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
During the visit, representatives of Bosna Bank International (BBI) visited and held meetings with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), Federal Union of German Employers’ Associations (BDA), Union of Medium Enterprise and Economy (MIT), Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH), energy company E.ON, Investment Bank of the Province of Brandenburg (ILB), Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning of the Province of Brandenburg and the Parliament of the Province of Brandenburg, as well the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) and others.
“Germany is a significant investor and the most important trade partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the meetings with German institutions and organizations, new opportunities for cooperation between Bosnian and German entrepreneurs have unrolled. They showed the greatest interest in the energy sector, more precisely in the renewable energy sources, tourism and the manufacturing sector,” said Ms. Elma Agić-Šabeta, Director of the Risk Control Department of BBI Bank and one of the coordinators of the 11th Sarajevo Business Forum.
Participation was announced by Dr. Volker Treier, member of the Board of DIHK (German Chamber of Industry and Commerce) who will address the audience on the topic of Nearshoring, the perspectives of Southeast Europe in the context of shifting production to SEE countries and the impact of the war in Ukraine on these economic activities. Dr. Volker Treier is an exceptionally respected German macroeconomist, often cited by the German and World media. Since 2019 he is the Executive Director for Foreign Trade and a member of the Executive Board of DIHK, which is the umbrella institution of all international German chambers of commerce.
In addition to Dr. Volker Treier, participation in this year’s Forum was also confirmed by Ms. Olga Zijverden, Project Manager of DIHK (German Chamber of Industry and Commerce), Ms. Sophia Kluge, Chamber Partnership Western Balkans, Mr. Martin Gaber, Director of Germany Trade and Invest for the Western Balkans, and Ms. Amra Šurković, AHK, Bosnia and Herzegovina who will be also panellist and presenter on the topic of “Nearshoring” on the second day of the 11th SBF.
