The jubilee 20th Afro Festival has been held at the Museum of African Art in Belgrade’s Senjak neighbourhood. “The Museum of African Art is a unique institution in Belgrade, Serbia and the Balkans, which has, for a full 40 years, with its diverse programmes, contributed to the establishment and enhancement of cultural links between our capital, but also our entire country, and the friendly people of Africa,” said Ivona Jevtić, acting Secretary of Culture of the City of Belgrade.
Numerous guests were also addressed in the Museum’s garden by H.E. Tajouri Sh. Tajouri, Libyan Ambassador in Belgrade and doyen of the Group of African Ambassadors in Serbia, and Maria Aleksić, Director of the Museum.
Prizes for the winners of the fourth Art Competition were presented by representatives of daily newspaper “Politika” and company “Amfora”, while the programme culminated with the concert of Afro-Cuban band ‘Salsa and Punto’.
