Belgrade Gains a Cultural Factory in Silos and a New Mural by a Spanish Artist Through Cultural Exchange with Barcelona!

In collaboration with the Saša Marčeta Foundation, the B-Murals platform from Barcelona, and the Cultural Center Silosi Belgrade, a street art project has been launched, connecting two European metropolises through artist exchanges, art residency programs, and contributing to the community by nurturing local values and the authenticity of the environment in which these interventions take place.

This time, Belgrade will host French-Spanish artist known by the alias Bebop12 (Adrian Manso), who will unveil the first mural in the Silos’ indoor space on October 5th at 5 PM. This event will also mark the start of the new cultural factory “Art Mill” in the fourth Silos, aiming to showcase hundreds of new works in the future. These monuments of brutalist architecture have been given a new lease of life thanks to the Gaia Movement, a non-profit organization developing programs in the fields of art, education, recreational sports, and environmental protection at the Silos.

The muralist was selected through an open call by the B-Murals platform, and his artistic intervention will focus on public health. This specific theme brings an intriguing story from Catalonia, dedicated to women known as the trementinaires, who were aware of the therapeutic properties of herbs and skilled in making homemade remedies from natural ingredients, developing unique preparation methods passed down through generations. This long-forgotten tradition connects us to the natural surroundings of the Pyrenees through the La Vansa and Tuixent valleys, while the local story also draws on the typical Catalan tradition of ceramic craftsmanship, commonly used in architecture. Therefore, the work on this mural aims to raise community awareness about the importance of health and tradition, receiving special support from the Vizim Family Health Center, which is celebrating 30 years of existence and active work this year.

Bebop12, an artist with a rich career and a unique style, known for his colorful and dynamic characters, is recognized for his ability to create narratives around key social issues such as nature conservation and education, authentically connecting art with space and the community. His mural in Belgrade holds special significance as it perfectly aligns with the mission of the Saša Marčeta Foundation and the Cultural Center Silosi Belgrade – fostering artistic dialogue and encouraging social change through specific micro-projects that promote collaboration and are accessible to a wide audience. The project is also supported by the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to Southeast Europe, further highlighting the importance of artistic exchange between Belgrade and Barcelona.

We invite all art lovers, especially those drawn to the culture of street art, to visit the Silos (Dunavski kej 46) and witness this unique artistic intervention. More information about the mural’s grand opening and future projects can be found on the official websites of Silos, Vizim Health Center, and the social media channels of the Saša Marčeta Foundation.
