The second edition of the Women ArtLinks Festival Forum (WAF), with the support of the National Commission of UNESCO, was held on October 2, at Madlena Palace in Belgrade
The Opening remarks have been done by the Founder of the Forum – Pianist Jovanka Visekruna Jankovic, Jasna Zrnovic, Secretary General of UNESCO Serbia, Ms Matilde Mordt, UN Ambassador to Serbia, Tanja Matić, Director of Development Fund of the Republic of Serbia, Fabio Scano, Representative of the World health Organization and Natalia Oszko Jakab, Board Member of European Festival Association.
Ms Sanja Burg, Communication Director of Company Loreal prepared presents by Loreal for women participants and the special present by Loreal to the first Women Mecena in Arts in Serbia – Ms Madlena Zepter.
This year, the Forum is focused on the strong connection between empowerment of the women, their wellbeing and health and Art, especially in the month dedicated to raising awareness about women’s health and the fight against breast cancer.
Through art we open a dialogue about how creative expression can positively affect mental and emotional well-being, especially in severe cases moments, such as fighting an illness or recovering. Art has always been a means through which people find relief, strength and a sense of purpose.
Exploring this connection between art and the health, we want to inspire conversations about how creativity can play a key role in the healing process – physically, emotionally and mentally.
In accordance with breast cancer awareness month, we invite all present to donate to the Institute of Oncology in Belgrade, in order to support theirs Center for breast cancer research, helping progress in this extremely important fight.
The Forum opens the space for new creativity and freedom of expression in different ways – word, picture, sound, motion, action or any other way and connects extraordinary women artists, managers, medical doctors, who are initiators and founders of the new strategies, work models, methods and concepts in their life missions and visions.
Female guest artist at the Forum was Portuguese singer Amalia Baraona who performed Bossa Nova concert and a special Poetry and Music evening was organised at the Residence of the Ambassador of Brazil in Serbia, hosted by Ms Daniela Vivasqua.
Two concerts will be organised as a part of this initiative on October 31 and November 1 under the title Dreaming. Twi female artists Dee Penicaut and Amy Blake will be the guests of the Festival. The tickets will be donations for the Institut for Oncology.
