Minister Tatjana Macura with the Japanese Foreign Minister: The increasingly strong partnership between Serbia and Japan

Minister Tatjana Macura spoke today with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya at a reception organized by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo

The topic of the conversation was Serbia’s participation in the upcoming conference marking the 25th anniversary of the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 – “Women, Peace and Security”, as well as the growing economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as Serbia’s participation in this year’s Expo in Osaka.

Serbia is one of the rare examples of countries in the world that has a minister whose mandate is dedicated to gender equality, the political and economic empowerment of women, as well as the prevention of violence against women.

“Serbia has shown a clear commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all, through concrete measures and policies that contribute to strengthening the role of women and mothers in society. Our role at the upcoming conference will be an opportunity to share experiences and examples of good practice, but also to learn from other countries in order to further improve our policies,” Minister Macura emphasized.

She added that, thanks to successful projects and investments, cooperation with Japan further stimulates economic growth and opens up new opportunities for improving bilateral relations.

Minister Tatjana Macura will speak tomorrow about the Third National Action Plan for the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, presenting key results and challenges in the implementation of this important international initiative.
