How Packaging Meets Perfection

Al Pack Group, a testament to enduring family enterprise, has carved a significant niche in the aluminium packaging industry since its inception in 1994

From its headquarters in Subotica, Serbia, the company has grown into a provider of high-quality packaging solutions, encompassing everything from precision-engineered lids and robust containers to specialized lacquered and laminated foils.

We explored the drivers behind Al Pack Group’s impressive expansion and its growing international footprint in a detailed interview with Mr. Rajko Mikac, the founder whose leadership has been instrumental in the company’s development.

Al Pack Group has grown from a small family business into an internationally significant company. What key factors have contributed to this impressive growth, and what were the biggest challenges along the way?

Since 1994, we have been expanding our experience and knowledge in aluminum packaging production, investing heavily in human resources and technology. This commitment to both allows us to keep pace with constant market changes and adapt. The biggest challenge lies precisely in the company’s readiness to respond to all market changes.

You have marked 30 years of existence and successful operation. Al Pack Group has achieved significant success in conquering new markets. Can you describe this project in more detail and its significance for Al Pack Group?

In the last few years, we have established cooperation with major players in the wet pet food industry, which has simultaneously resulted in a significant expansion of capacities within our production plants in Subotica and Belgrade. We are proud that the quality of our products has been recognized by leading global brands in this industry, as well as the price-to-quality ratio. Entering this market leaves us room for continuous growth in the years to come.

How does Al Pack Group ensure that its products meet the highest quality standards and the demands of global brands? What technologies and innovations do you use in the production process?

One of Al Pack’s core values is the quality of the finished product. First of all, we define quality standards, as well as customer requirements and expectations. Communication must be clear and unambiguous with both our suppliers and our employees, so that all quality expectations throughout the chain are met. Within our laboratory, we simulate customer production, thus testing quality, in addition to the standard procedure for incoming, in-line, and final control.

In today’s competitive market, innovation is key. How does Al Pack Group encourage innovation and the development of new solutions in the field of aluminum packaging?

Our team, among other things, includes a large number of technologists, so through daily presence and teamwork, we learn from each other. Ideas are born in various situations, followed by countless tests, attempts; sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don’t, but most importantly – we never give up. I try to pass that spirit on to all our employees.

How do you see the future of the aluminum packaging industry and Al Pack Group’s position in it? What are your plans for the company’s further growth and development?

Aluminum is an excellent barrier to light, oxygen, moisture, odors, and microorganisms, and it has good flexibility and elasticity, making it very suitable in the packaging industry. Therefore, I see no obstacle to its use in the distant future. As for further plans, that’s a question for the younger generations; I can only advise them, but it’s questionable how much they will listen (laughter).
