The first anniversary of the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016, was marked at Kalemegdan by an exhibition of photographs that opened on July 13.
As “one picture is worth a thousand words,” 43 photographs showcasing the attempted coup in Turkey with the aim of thrown out democratically elected leadership and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan were shown. Democracy was protected by ordinary citizens who went out on the streets to oppose a coup.
