In May 2017, the Tourist Organization of Serbia (TOS) organized a study visit of journalists from the prestigious British media “The Guardian” in order to promote Serbia as a tourist destination.
In cooperation with the Tourism Organisation of Zlatibor, the tourist offer of the region of Western Serbia was presented. The positive experiences from Zlatibor, about the Stopića Cave, which are described as something that can “be an inspiration like any cathedral”, Serbian open-air museum “Old Village” in Sirogojno, driving by “Shargan Eight” train, which is depicted as a fantastic engineering project from 1925 and Drvengrad “Mećavnik” town, as well as the experience of the National Park “Tara” and the experience of visiting other attractions of this region. In addition to the fact that Zlatibor is very popular for tourists in Serbia, this destination attracts more and more foreign guests, so in the first five months of this year it recorded an increase of 13% in the number of foreign tourist arrivals compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of overnight stays of tourists from the UK in Serbia in the same period has recorded growth of over 21%.
