18 May 2018 marks the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Pakistan and Serbia. Both sides established diplomatic relations in 1948, when Pakistan was still in its nascent stages. After withstanding seven decades of test, today the bilateral relations are marked by increasing bilateral trade and exchanges of visit at different level.
To celebrate this event, in a befitting manner, different programs have been planned by the mutual cooperation of both sides, which include Cultural Gala on the sideline of Pakistan Day Reception, training of Serbian Cricket Federation by the Pakistan Cricket Board, exhibition of historic documents related to 70 years of bilateral relations and exhibition of Pakistani products and Mango in Serbia including installation of the Bust of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in a public place in Belgrade. Pakistan and Serbia have also initiated the re-validation of the Agreements and MOUs signed in these seven decades, which have outlived their useful period.
The bilateral relations are characterized by mutual support on host of issues of international interest as well as cooperation in multilateral forums. Pakistan considers Serbia to be an important country in Western Balkans and wishes it success in its path towards Accession to European Union, which is one of the biggest trading partners of Pakistan.
