A commemorative gathering on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I in the capital city of Ottawa was held at the end of July a reminder of a Serb and a Canadian, the first and the last victim of the war.
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada, including the Ambassador of Canada to Serbia H. E. Kati Csaba, as well as representatives of the Diaspora and the SPC from Canada, attended the commemoration. Commemoration is a joint Serbian-Canadian event led by Serbian Ambassador to Canada H. E. Mihailo Papazoglu and the Ottawa Mayor James Alexander Watson. The commemoration was held in the City Hall of the Ottawa Municipal Assembly building, and on the memorial plaque was set in the central part of the building, the introduction emphasised that Serbia and Canada mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the WWI and that the two countries were allies.
