Development Agency of Serbia, Economic and Trade Office – Embassy of Belgium, The Embassy of Belgium in Serbia and the Belgian-Serbian Business Association jointly organized and held the presentation on “Business Opportunities for Belgian Companies in Serbia” in Belgrade which was mainly held to provide information about subsidies and support programs to the Belgian companies that are doing business in Serbia as well as to the Belgian companies interested in setting up or expanding their presence in Serbia.
At the beginning of the event H.E. Mr. Koenraad Georges L. Adam, Ambassador of Royal Belgian Embassy, and acting director of Development Agency of Serbia (RAS) Mr. Rados Gazdic gave welcome speeches.
Ambassador of Belgium, Mr. Koenraad Georges L. Adam, stated that he supports the idea of this kind of an event, which makes an effort to connect and provide relevant information for those companies that are interested in doing business. Moreover, he emphasized importance of cooperation between two countries, in every segment, especially business one, and that good relations between countries will always have support of Embassy of Belgium.
Director of RAS, Rados Gazdic, mentioned that RAS offers, not only support by subsidies, but companies can rely on consultancy and expert help, from the first phase of project, through all phases and path of the project until the end of the it. In that manner, he emphasized example of company “Metech” in the Smederevo, which represents both RAS support and support given by municipalities. In addition to that, good practice is supported with the fact that in the last year Serbia had over 3 billion euros foreign investment flow.
“Regarding cooperation between Belgium and Serbia, every year we have increased investment flow and Belgium is always among first 20 to 25 countries that invest in Serbia. This event is just one step further in our cooperation, and we, RAS and our advisors, are at your disposal for any kind of questions and help you might need”, said Gazdic.
Advisors in RAS gave a presentation on business opportunities for Belgian companies in Serbia and subsidies and support program RAS offers. After that Aleksandar Jovanovic from Belgian company “Metech” situated in Smederevo, presented their experience in implementing investment project in Serbia, as one of the examples of the best practice.
Also, director of Office for Local economic Development and Project of City of Nis, Milan Randjelovic, talked about the support program this particular city gives and about all experiences municipality has with foreign investment projects.
After presentations individual meetings and conversations between representatives of the companies and RAS advisors took place.
Event gathered around 60 representatives of Belgian and Serbian companies.
