The Serbian Tourist Organization said on Monday that more than 1.5 million foreign tourists visited the country this year to the end of October, a rise in numbers compared to the same period a year earlier.
A press release said that an almost equal number of domestic tourists were registered in the same period. It specified that 1,588,895 domestic tourists (or six percent more than a year earlier) were registered along with 1,578,164 foreign tourists (or seven percent more than a year earlier).
The number of overnight stays stood at 8,743,413 which is also a rise of six percent. The Tourist Organization said that most of the tourists were from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Turkey, Russia and China.
Most foreign tourists visited Belgrade, Novi Sad, Mts Zlatibor and Kopaonik, and Vrnjacka Banja spa while domestic tourists mainly stayed at Vrnjacka Banja spa, Zlatibor, Kopaonik, Belgrade and Soko Banja spa.
