On March 6, 2020, Brose had a groundbreaking ceremony marking the beginning of the construction of the company’s manufacturing complex in Pančevo, Serbia. The ceremony took place in the presences of the representatives of the political and business life, as well as the media. Brose plans to launch mass production of engines and electronics for cooling fan modules at a 220,000-square-foot site in Pančevo by the summer of 2021.
“Brose Group supplies the automotive industry with around 200 million electric motors a year. We are responding to the growing demand for our products by expanding our global development and manufacturing network and boosting our competitiveness,” said Thomas Spangler, Chief Technology Officer at Brose. This is Brose’s first location in Serbia and the ninth factory in the world to produce electric motors. In addition to the manufacturing facility where the automotive components will be manufactured, Brose is going to build a development centre.
In the first phase of construction, a production facility and an administrative building spanning approximately 60,000 square metres will be built in Pančevo. Completion is planned for next spring. The company’s Managing Board has already approved € 120 million-worth of investments in the new Brose factory complex. The company is preparing to compete in tenders for electric motors and electronics, and to achieve planned sales of around 440 million euro in Serbia by 2025. Furthermore, Brose plans to create up to 1,100 new jobs in development, sales, procurement and manufacturing.
“Investments in Eastern European markets are an integral part of our global Future Brose programme, which we want to implement to significantly reduce costs while improving our innovative capabilities. In this way, we will create the conditions for Brose to continue the successful development and expansion of its business,” underlined Michael Stoschek, CEO of Brose Group.
“With the arrival of Brose, we were able to bring an innovative, long-term-oriented, family-owned business to Serbia. I am pleased that such a successful globally renowned automotive supplier has an exceptional work environment and attractive jobs. In this way, Brose contributes to the economic strength of Pančevo and the economic development of Serbia, “said the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
