More than RSD 100 million for supporting the fight against the Coronavirus: Serbian Philanthropy Forum highlights the list of priorities for necessary equipment

B92 Fund and Serbian Philanthropy Forum are working together on finding donors who will help in the fight against the Coronavirus, by donating funds for necessary equipment.

The needs are exceptionally high, and the organizations are urgently calling on all who are able to help to reach out to them. The list of priorities includes tests, respirators, oxygen concentrators, vital sign monitors, flowmeters for oxygen, oxygen masks, pulse oximeters, tubes for respirators, surgical masks, disposable protective suits that protect against liquids, protective goggles, face protectors, surgical gloves, one-piece suits, liquid resistant aprons, protective footwear, as well as hygiene product and food packages for a number of locations.

Executive director of Serbian Philanthropy Forum and head of the Board of Directors of B92 Fund, Veran Matić stated that a lot of companies responded in a short amount of time, and that the purchased equipment is already being delivered.

It is necessary to provide the adequate conditions and protection for the entire healthcare staff. The medical workers that we are in touch with on a daily basis show great dedication, and they all deserve us to show the same level of dedication and helping where we can help the most. Our common goal is to have as few people get infected as possible, and to ensure that treatment starts early and in the best possible conditions for those who do get infected,” said Veran Matić.

Serbian Philanthropy Forum published a list of companies who have, so far, donated more than RSD 100 million for supporting the fight against the Coronavirus.

Veran Matić says that it is important to keep the public informed about the donations and the institutions they were sent to, because he believes that, by leading with a good example, the other companies will be encouraged to show humaneness and solidarity.

Thanks to an international company that wished to remain anonymous, the Clinic for Pulmonology of the Clinical Centre of Serbia yesterday received a respirator worth RSD 2,124,000, as well as three patient monitors worth RSD 1,274,400, provided by Nordeus. In addition to that, Nordeus donated RSD 2,116,800 for the procurement of 1,500 Coronavirus tests, which shall be delivered by the end of next week.

A total of 2,700 bottle of Domestos and other materials such as buckets, mops, gloves were delivered to the Emergency Centre, Clinic for Pulmonology, Infective Clinic and the Neurosurgery Clinic at the Clinical Centre of Serbia, the Institute for Oncology of Serbia and gerontology centres in Belgrade, Pančevo, Obrenovac, and Nursing Homes in Belgrade. The donor was Unilever, and the donation was worth RSD 594,000.

Clinical and Hospital Centre Dr Dragiša Mišović – Dedinje received 20 pulse oximeters, 10 of which were purchased thanks to the donation of Japan Tobacco International in the amount of RSD 299,520, while the other ten, worth RSD 90,000, were a donation of an anonymous donor. Thanks to the employees of Chapter 4, funds were secured for the purchase of 15 more pulse oximeters for Clinical and Hospital Centre Dr Dragiša Mišović.

MOL donated 3,000 packages of tea, coffee and energy bars, whose value is RSD 231,300, for healthcare staff at Clinical and Hospital Centre Dr Dragiša Mišović, Clinical Centre of Serbia, Clinical Centre Kragujevac, and in the coming days, packages will be donated to employees of Clinical Centre of Vojvodina and Clinical Centre Niš.

With a donation of 4 PCs and the same amount of printers, worth RSD 136,889, Coca-Cola HBC Serbia facilitated more efficient work of the coordinating team of the Clinical Centre of Serbia. The doctors of the Clinical Centre of Serbia yesterday received 415 pairs of goggles, as a donation of the European Consulting Group, in the amount of RSD 67,300.

In addition to the above donations, during this week, the members of Serbian Philanthropy Forum donated funds for providing necessary medical equipment to the Serbian healthcare system. For the purchase of respirators, the Elixir Foundation donated RSD 30 million, and AIK Bank donated RSD 28 million. Telekom Serbia donated RSD 20 million to the healthcare system for combating the Coronavirus epidemic. MK Group donated RSD 6 million to the Torlak Institute for Virology, Vaccines and Sera, as well as food products worth RSD 4 million, and in addition to that, it provided its hotel in Novi Sad for use to the Institute of Public Health of Serbia Dr Milan Jovanović Batut. Hemofarm Foundation donated RSD 3 million to the local community of the City of Vršac for food, disinfection products and packages for senior citizens. Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation raised RSD 1 million for hygiene packages for users of the Church Soup Kitchen in Francuska street, and RSD 1.6 million more are necessary to provide these packages to 2,600 children and adult users of the kitchen. As a socially responsible company, NELT donated EUR 240,000 to the Republic Fund for Health Insurance for the purchase of 10 respirators.

Golijska ledena donated 1680 6 litre water bottles for the slums, in cooperation with the Team for Social Inclusion and Reducing Poverty of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Food Bank.

Through the platform donacije.rs the Jedi Movement raised over RSD 300,000 for sewing masks for healthcare workers in south Serbia, ADRA raised over 100,000 for packages for the homeless, and Catalyst Balkans sent the first RSD 100,000 to the socially vulnerable persons in Belgrade and Pančevo.

Delta Holding is providing 150 meals a day for employees at the Clinical Centre of Serbia, McDonalds is providing 100, while Coca-Cola HBC Serbia will donate 2,100 packs of drinks from their assortment each month, totalling around 100,000 litres.
