Serbian doctors and researchers from around the world will be able to apply online at www.onmed.rs to develop fruitful dialogue.
On the occasion of the spread of COVID-19 virus in Ćuprija, one of the main foci in Serbia, the situation that represents one of the biggest challenges for health care workers in history, the President of the Serbian Medical Association Pomoravlje, dr. med. Christos Alexopoulos announces the establishment of the World Institute of Serbian Physicians and Biomedical Sciences Researchers.
“In these difficult times our country is going through, it is paramount that we all be united. United against a common enemy. Only by unity, cooperation and solidarity, and by observing the measures and regulations we can defeat this monster, ”said Dr. Alexopoulos.
“Since my ancestor Panajot Papakostopoulos and his colleagues founded the Serbian Medical Society on April 22, 1872, I have chosen that very date to establish the World Institute of Serbian Physicians and Biomedical Sciences Researchers (SISLI). Given the current situation in which communication is possible exclusively through the Internet, in April we will hold a founding assembly at a teleconference. A large number of doctors from Serbia and the diaspora have already shown interest and responded to our call for cooperation. “
“We, as doctors and researchers, have responded to the slogan Serbia calls you through the SISLI project by creating a digital platform onmed.rs in addition to the Institute, recognizing the right moment and opportunity to unite medical and research forces not only in Serbia but worldwide, in order to expertly and scientifically tackled the problem. “
The establishment of the Institute and a digital platform for all biomedical doctors and researchers aims to exchange views and knowledge among doctors and researchers of biomedical sciences in the country and the diaspora with a focus on patients and Serbian doctors and researchers who have gained their experience not only in Serbia but across Saint.
SISLI seeks to bring together several thousand physicians and researchers living abroad and over 30,000 licensed physicians working on Serbian soil.
At the initiative of dr Alexopoulos, in addition to the Institute, a dedicated electronic network has been set up to connect all Serbian scientists from all geographic lengths and latitudes. Serbian doctors and researchers from around the world will be able to apply online at www.onmed.rs to develop fruitful dialogue.
Initially, the goal is to integrate physicians living and working in major countries such as America, Canada, England, Germany, Sweden, etc. The fact is that according to estimates today, several thousand doctors and researchers live and work in developed foreign countries, and about 300 doctors leave Serbia every year. SISLI would build digital bridges of cooperation to bring together all Serbian doctors and researchers around the world under the auspices of the Institute.
“A large number of Serbian doctors make up high-quality scientific potential, with internationally recognized certificates and abilities, with vast experience and great social contributions, now widely recognized and perhaps the best ambassadors of Serbia. This capital must be supported and used, especially now, at the most critical and most vulnerable moment for Serbia. In addition, it is time to create such conditions that doctors who have emigrated abroad as a result of the recession can return to their homeland, “said Alexopoulos.
The institute will include, inter alia: the creation and operation of www.onmed.rs, the awarding of special awards of excellence to Serbian doctors and researchers of biomedical sciences, the creation of their own resources, undertaking and conducting studies, research projects and applications in cooperation with partners and members companies and other bodies (research institutes, universities, etc.) nationally and internationally.
This unique platform called www.onmed.rs is under construction, with work expected to be completed by the end of 2020. All interested persons who wish to participate in the project can write to the email address sldcuprija@mts.rs.
