Serbian Association of Managers (SAM) and FREN published the official results of the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI), presented each year by the World Economic Forum (WEF). According to the World Economic Forum for 2016, Serbia has moved up 4 places and is ranked 90th on the list, which includes 138 countries, with the recorded value of the Index of 3.97 (the value of the Index ranges from 1 to 7).
Compared to the previous year Serbia increased the value by 0.08. Serbia was two years ago, ranked 94th on the list. Jelena Bulatović, executive director of SAM, said that “the results suggest that the positive developments is occurring in the efficiency of individual institutions and the macroeconomic stability and efficient labuor market. We hope that fiscal consolidation is going to be carried out until the end, because its effects are seen in the indicators, which include reducing the budget deficit and controlling public debt.”
