The University of Belgrade signed a deal with Generali Osiguranje Srbija, making the insurance company the University’s gold partner on a national project – European Universities Games 2021
Rector of the University of Belgrade Prof. Dr. Ivanka Popović and the Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Generali Osiguranje Srbija Dragan Filipović have signed a cooperation agreement making this insurance company the Belgrade University’s gold partner of the European Universities Games 2021, which is set to take place from July 14 – 27 in Belgrade.
“The European Universities Games 2021 is a project of national importance. I am very grateful and happy that Generali Osiguranje Srbija has supported the University of Belgrade, a community of 100,000 students. The University of Belgrade is the leading academic institution in Serbia, and since Generali Osiguranje Srbija is the leader in its field, it was only natural for our paths to cross. By working together, this summer we will help share the most beautiful face of our country with Europe and the world.” said Prof. Dr. Ivanka Popović, rector of the University of Belgrade.
On the occasion of signing the cooperation agreement, Chairman of the Executive Board of Generali Osiguranje Srbija Dragan Filipović said: “Sport is very important for the development of young people, but also for the health of the community. We take great pride in supporting the European Universities Games because that way we support the future of Serbia and encourage our students to use sports to build stronger bonds with their peers across Europe and represent our country in the best possible way. Delighted by the energy and enthusiasm of young people gathered by Prof. Dr. Ivanka Popović, rector of the University of Belgrade, we are confident that the European Universities Games will be successful and we are happy to be a part of a wonderful image that will be seen across Europe and worldwide.”
The European Universities Games 2021 will be held in Belgrade from July 14 to 27. The event will bring together more than 6,500 students from around 40 European countries, with over 400 universities competing in 22 sports at 30 sports venues and locations in Belgrade. 2,500 volunteers will take part in the organization of the games, and together with EUSA officials, VIP guests, delegates, judges and referees, this event is expected to bring together more than 10,000 participants and guests. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić is the president of the Organizing Committee for the games hosted by the Rector of the University of Belgrade Prof. Dr. Ivanka Popović.
