The group of African Ambassadors accredited to Serbia is celebrating Africa Day today, May 25th, which is also the Friendship Day between Serbia and Africa.
H.E. Abdelhamid Chebchoub, Ambassador of Algeria, Dean of the group of African Ambassadors underlined on this occasion the will of African countries to meet the challenges the continent is facing.
He recalled in this regard the role played by the continental organization, the African Union in the preservation of peace and stability, in the process of economic development and the strengthening of solidarity between the African peoples.
He evoked the friendship between Serbia and Africa and the support given by the former Yugoslavia to the national liberation struggles in Africa, indicating the readiness of African countries to further develop ties of economic cooperation with Serbia.
This friendship was also celebrated on May 25th with the issuing on this occasion of a postage stamp on the theme of friendship between Africa and Serbia by the Post of Serbia. During the ceremony, the Ambassador of Algeria suggested to organize an exhibition on the African stamp by the Serbian Post and the group of Ambassadors.
In addition, the Museum of African Arts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Information, the City of Belgrade and with the support of “Color Media Communications” organized an online conference on the theme of cultural activity in Africa in the context of Covid-19.
