On 16th June, 2021, after a long period, the Slovenian Business Club (SBC) hosted a live event – a working meeting with the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Tomislav Momirović. The event was attended by over 80 members of the Slovenian Business Club.
The club’s president, Danijela Fišakov, opened the event and in her speech, pointed out that, given the very challenging last year, the club managed to quickly and successfully adapt to the rather peculiar circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and remained very active.
The guests also had the honour to be addressed by His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Belgrade, H.E. Damjan Bergant, who told the gathered business people that he was very pleased to see that companies that manufacture products for export were investing in Serbia. He added that Slovenian companies could help them with the transfer of valuable business experience and European business cultures. “Slovenia exports about 85% of all its products. Companies, founded with Slovenian capital in Serbia, contribute to the development of export competitiveness,” Mr. Bergant said. He underlined that during the coronavirus epidemic, the infrastructure experienced a “real renaissance”.
After the ambassador’s welcome speech, Mr. Tomislav Momirović addressed those present.
Speaking about the numerous ongoing projects, he pointed out that everything that is being built today is a consequence of the economic decisions that were made in 2014. The focus of the talks during the meeting with the representatives of many companies from Slovenia was current and future investments in infrastructure. Mr. Momirović pointed out that Slovenian companies understand the Serbian market and that they are doing great operating on it. He also mentioned that long-term partnerships are desirable and that in that sense, every company is viewed as domestic. Mr. Momirović also mentioned that wastewater treatment is one of the most important projects.
Serbian and Slovenian business people asked various questions after the aforementioned speeches, which was a real dialogue between the minister and the guests who got very concise, concrete and clear answers.
The President of the SBC handed a plaque to Minister Momirović and thanked all the members of the SBC for coming to the working meeting in such large numbers.
