A1 Serbia is the fastest mobile network in Serbia in 2021, according to Ookla®, a global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence, testing applications and related technologies and the company behind Speedtest®. The result was obtained on the basis of more than one hundred thousand tests performed by customers of all mobile operators in Serbia from April to the end of September 2021. A1 achieved the best results with a Speed Score™ of 56.55 on devices with modern chipsets.
This score and the prestigious award come as a result of continuous improvements in network quality implemented over the years. So far the company has built a network of nearly 2,300 radio base stations covering 98 percent of the population and has invested more than EUR 120 mn in the development in the last five years.
“In April this year, after 14 years of doing business in Serbia, our company changed its name to A1 Serbia. Back then we promised customers that they could expect more from us. With the support of the A1 Telekom Austria Group, we have made significant improvements to the network infrastructure, expanded the capacity of the 4G network and further improved the data services. As many as 100 new radio base stations were built in the first 8 months of 2021. Additional infrastructure expansions cover the entire country, in particular the area of Belgrade and Vojvodina. As much as 70 percent of our network has been significantly enhanced, owing to which a considerable number of A1 customers will have an improved user experience. For example, the capacity of the mobile network in Sombor has been increased by more than 100 percent, in Novi Sad by 81 percent, and in Kruševac and Kraljevo by more than 50 percent, compared to the previous year.
