The World Cup in Qatar brought together millions of supporters from 32 countries on 5 continents and more than a billion spectators from all corners of the world, who were able to follow this magnificent football chapter with enthusiasm and euphoria for a whole month
During the Championship, everyone was cheering for their favorite player and their national team (or another team they liked). However, all these spectators, football fans, and sports experts agreed on one thing, a real miracle happened during this World’s Cup edition. That miracle has a name, “the Moroccan football team,” and a nickname, “the Atlas Lions”.
The Moroccan football team has written in golden letters the history of sport and football, not only for Morocco but also for the whole of Africa and the Arab world! Morocco became the first Arab and African national team to reach the semi-finals and book seats in the Golden Four of world football. We must admit that this form of soft power and this feat, which demonstrated to the world what Moroccan footballers are capable of, have brilliantly enhanced the image of the Kingdom, confirming its role as a leading country and locomotive nation in this part of the world.
A WINNING ROYAL STRATEGY AND VISION!
How did the Moroccan players, certainly guided by their phenomenal and talented coach Walid REGRAGUI, manage to fascinate and delight all football fans? Is their historical success just a coincidence, the fruit of chance? The answer is NO! The success of the Moroccan team did not happen by chance. Behind this fantastic success is the visionary perspective and winning strategy of the King of the country, MOHAMMED VI, aiming at strengthening the Royal Moroccan Football Federation with decades of hard work and significant financial investments by the Moroccan Government and State. This is a strategy and vision that has enabled Morocco, in addition to its great economic, diplomatic and political successes, to be recognized as a sporting nation capable of achieving significant results, particularly in football.
THE ROLE OF THE MOHAMMED VI FOOTBALL ACADEMY.
This winning strategy concerns, in particular, the inauguration of the MOHAMMED VI Football Academy in 2009, which aims at promoting football practice and its development through the identification and training of talented footballers. This Academy, designated by the International Football Federation (FIFA), is the key to the success of the Moroccan national team at the 2022 World Cup and represents the most modern training center in Africa, allowing for the detection and development of talents discovered in different regions of Morocco, and serving as a springboard to major clubs around the world.
It is worth mentioning that a budget of 15 million dollars was allocated to its construction and its equipment with sports, teaching, and sanitary facilities. Today, this academy, undoubtedly one of the best of its kind in the world, with an excellent administrative and sports structure, has already done a lot for Moroccan football.
THE JOY AND SINCERE ENTHUSIASM OF THE SERBIAN PEOPLE FOR THE MOROCCAN FOOTBALL TEAM.
The Moroccan football team has received sincere enthusiasm and support from Serbian citizens who have been able to follow its achievements through the different stages of the World Cup and displayed the Moroccan flags in several cities in Serbia. Even the President of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar VUCIC, referred to the Moroccans as ” brothers of Serbia ” during an appearance on the Serbian National Television (RTS) and announced his support for Morocco in the 3rd place match.
MOROCCO IS READY TO HOST THE 2030 WORLD CUP.
Finally, Morocco has already applied to FIFA to host the 2030 World Cup, a happy prospect that could well become a reality in view of the significant efforts and progress made in the development of Moroccan football.
