International Greek Language Day is celebrated every year on February 9, the day which also honors the memory of the Greek national poet Dionysios Solomos
The Department of Neo-Hellenic Studies, with the support of the Embassy of Greece in Belgrade, the Embassy of Cyprus in Belgrade and the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, organized the celebration of the Greek Language Day in the Hall of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade.
The program included performances by the “Helenofonia” and “Irida” choirs, a performance by the KUD “Kantakuzina” dance ensemble, as well as recitations and musical performances by students of the Greek language.
H.E. Mrs. Maria Levanti, the new ambassador of Greece in Belgrade, also attended the commemoration of the International Greek Language Day.
