As part of the spring season, we are announcing three concerts by our choir, The International Belgrade Singers, titled “HEAL THE WORLD.”
We want to convey a message of hope, love, and peace through music. Our goal is to raise awareness about the importance of empathy, mutual support, and care. Through our music, we aim to connect hearts, bridge gaps, and inspire people to come together and create a better world. United as one voice, we sing with the hope that our melodies will encourage individuals to take responsibility for positive change in the world around us.
The first concert will take place on Saturday, June 3rd, starting at 7:00 PM at Guarnerius Cultural Institution, 12 George Washington Street. The second concert will be on Thursday, June 8th, at 8:00 PM at the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall, 11 Studentski Trg. The third concert will be on June 10th at 6:30 PM at the Church of St. Peter, 23 Makedonska Street.
The concerts are charitable events, and admission is through voluntary contributions. For more information on donations, you can contact us through our social media channels: Facebook – IBSCHOIR or Instagram – IBS_CHOIR.
The International Belgrade Singers is a mixed amateur choir founded in 2012 under the patronage of the Embassy of Canada in Serbia. Over the past 11 years, the choir has had over 200 members. Currently, our choir consists of around 40 members, including representatives from the diplomatic corps, the international community, and choral music enthusiasts. We have had the privilege to perform in almost all concert halls in Belgrade, as well as in cities like Novi Sad, Zaječar, Tršić, Loznica, Sombor, and other locations.
While our repertoire is primarily based on English songs, we proudly sing in various languages, including Norwegian, Swedish, Ukrainian, Latin, and Japanese. We enjoy performing both classical and contemporary compositions, specially arranged for our choir.
Everyone interested in joining us as new members is welcome. We will start a new season in September after the summer break. Our conductor, Olga Biserčić, has successfully led the choir for six years or 12 seasons.
The choir’s motto is: “Give back to our community through our contribution.” The guiding idea is to collect funds during the concerts and donate them to charitable causes, always focusing on children’s institutions. We are very proud of our charitable work and have assisted numerous institutions and organizations caring for children, such as the Children’s Shelter, the Association of the Blind, Dr. Dragan Hercog Elementary School, the Day Care Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities, the Children’s Clinic in Sokobanjska, Zvečanska Centers, the Shelter for Children, and the Children’s Hospital in Tiršova, among others. This time, the funds we collect will be dedicated to the Maternity Home in Zvečanska and the School for Eye Safety “Dragan Kovačević.”
We will have special guests at the concerts, including the Children’s Choir Belgrade, the Children’s Choir DKCB, pianist Vesna Kršić Sekulić, soloist Julcy Rodrigues, and the music group “Iztok.” Višnja Dimitrijević will be the accompanist and solo organ performer at the Church of St. Peter.
