Aleksandar Radojičić, a new governor of Rotary District 2483 for Serbia and Montenegro
At a magnificent ceremony at the White Palace, Aleksandar Radojičić, Master of Economics, took over the position of Governor of Rotary District 2483 for Serbia and Montenegro from the previous first man of this organization, Nikola Božić, who will hold the position until July 1, 2024.
On that occasion, the newly elected governor of the Rotary Community, Aleksandar Radojičić, said:
“There are 1.3 millions of us Rotarians in the world, about 35,000 clubs, and through our actions we make the world a better place to live. In the years behind us, as in the years yet to come, we are here to show that we are ready to take a step forward, to provide help, hope and encouragement to others and proudly show that we are not here just for ourselves, but that we are an inseparable part community to which we belong, and which is the meaning of our existence. The president of Rotary International for the upcoming Rotary year, Gordon R. McInally, dedicated this year to “Create hope in the world”, which symbolizes our vision. It is very important that we give hope to those who really need it. In the coming period, Rotary will focus on three main goals: basic education, empowerment and equality for women and mental health. We believe that these are the three pillars on which we must build a healthy society. Cooperation with all relevant social and state institutions, in order to realize these values, is a priority for us”.
By the way, Rotary International celebrated its 118th anniversary this year, but the Rotary community in Serbia also celebrated two important jubilees – 95 years since its foundation and 30 years since the re-establishment of Rotary in our region. The first Rotary club in the world was founded by lawyer Paul Harris in Chicago back in 1905. years. The first Rotary Club in Belgrade was founded in 1928, and the Rotary Clubs stopped working during the Second World War. The work of the clubs was renewed again in the period from 1992 to 1995, after the restoration of the civil sector. Today, the Rotary community in Serbia and Montenegro gathers 70 clubs with 1400 Rotarians. The Rotary community gathers those successful professionals and experts around the world who want to make their time, knowledge, contacts and money available to help where help is really needed, as well as for the development of their local community and the global good. The Rotary organization is a collection of accomplished professionals in their work, regardless of their profession. The projects they implement are always in the area of promoting peace, solving the problem of drinking water, improving hygiene and sanitary conditions, taking care of the health of mothers and newborns, supporting local economic development, environmental protection, education,” stressed Governor Radojičić.
The governor’s ceremony was attended by: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjević and Princess Katarina, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the diplomatic corps and numerous guests.
