The Gala Charity Evening of the Studenica Foundation, held on November 28 at the Aeroclub in Belgrade, had a fantastic atmosphere. Elegant ladies in formal long gowns and distinguished gentlemen gathered with the goal of supporting the education of young and talented people.
The festive hall of the Aeroclub was filled with many well-known figures and successful individuals from the business world. The event was attended by writer Matija Bećković and conductor Bojan Suđić, among others.
The event was marked by a rich cultural and artistic program. The program was hosted by renowned journalist Aleksandar Gajšek.
Guests had the opportunity to hear talented theater and film actress Brankica Sebastijanović, who recited poems by Desanka Maksimović and Oscar Davić.
Singer, pianist, and excellent composer Anastasia Kostić, who is also an alumna of the Foundation, performed two original songs: the beautiful ballad “Saint Vasilije” and the song “Veljko General,” dedicated to General Veljko Rađenović, a hero who led the Special Serbian Units from Priština during the 1998 Kosovo and Metohija war.
Singer-songwriter Marko Luis, beloved by people of all generations and music enthusiasts of different genres, also responded to the Studenica Foundation’s invitation and performed several well-known covers and his original songs. The fun continued afterward with a DJ performance.
Artist Milica Radović donated her paintings to help raise funds for students.
The charity evening was supported by a large number of former scholarship recipients who are now successful and accomplished individuals.
Nearly 2,000,000 dinars were raised to fund scholarships for Serbian students from vulnerable groups. The entire proceeds from ticket sales will go toward the new generation of scholarship recipients. The Studeica Foundation pays special attention to students who are studying to be teachers. Over 500 applications were received for the scholarship competition, and the selection process is ongoing. The best candidates will be chosen by the end of the year.
The first recipient of the Studenica Foundation “Miroslav Michael Djordjevic” Philanthropy Award, named after the founder of the Studenica Foundation, was announced. The award was given to Alex Mačeski, a Serbian businessman living in the United States. He has been engaged in humanitarian work for years and strives to improve Serbia’s reputation worldwide.
This year, the Studenica Foundation awarded a special prize to the editorial team of the Diaspora Program of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). The reason for the award is that the RTS Diaspora Program is the only one in the domestic media space that has been continuously informing and strengthening the connection between the homeland and the diaspora for more than 30 years.
