The Museum of African Art’s AFRO FESTIVAL 2022 was held on 25th and 26th June in Belgrade. Many visitors, Belgrade citizens, and tourists could enjoy high-quality cultural events and entertainment created around the art, culture, and heritage of the African continent.
Afro Festival 2022 was the place to experience the African arts and crafts bazaar, where was possible to learn about the cultural heritage of Africa. During the festival weekend, visitors could join a museum’s guided tour, dance workshops, or just chill to the sounds of hip-hop, reggae, Angolan traditional, and pop music, while experimenting with different African cuisine.
The most festive part of the weekend was the Durbar program, the day of friendship, music, and dance, that took part on Sunday, 26th June. This program was supported by embassies from many African nations to Serbia including Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Congo, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia, as well as consulates of Namibia, and Jamaica. At the central event, visitors were welcomed by Marija Aleksić, museum’s director, H.E.Mohammed Amine Belhaj, ambassador of Morocco, and H.E. Alcino dos Prazeres Izata da Conceição, ambassador of Angola.
