Canada Day – When Canadians Come Together

In Belgrade, on June 27th, Canada Day was celebrated with a formal reception at the residence of the Canadian Ambassador H.E. Giles Norman

In front of numerous guests, the reception began with the playing of the national anthems of Canada and Serbia, followed by a welcoming speech from the ambassador.

Canada Day, celebrated on July 1st each year, is the national holiday of Canada. It commemorates the anniversary of the confederation of Canada, which occurred on July 1, 1867, with the passing of the Constitution Act (formerly known as the British North America Act). This act united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada (which became Ontario and Quebec), New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada.

Canada Day is a time for Canadians to come together to celebrate their history, culture, and achievements, reflecting on their nation’s journey and looking forward to its future.
