On the occasion of the Algerian National Day, Algerian Embassy in Belgrade, organized on November 21st a reception at Belgrade’s Hilton Hotel.
Were present Mr. Veroljub Arsić, Vice-President of the National Assembly, Mr. Zoran Djordjević, Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Serbian officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Serbian and Algerian businessmen, public and religious figures, members of the Association of Friends of Algeria and members of the Algerian community in Serbia.
In his address, H.E. Abdelhamid Chebchoub, Ambassador of Algeria, recalled the importance and the impact of November 1st 1954 not only for Algeria but also for all colonized nations and people worldwide.
He underlined the principles guiding the Algerian foreign policy actions, namely the right of peoples to self-determination, non-interference in internal affairs of states, peaceful settlement of conflicts and good neighborliness recalling the efforts of Algeria for peace and stability in Africa.
He highlighted the achievements and progress made by Algeria in the economic and development fields.
At this ceremony, Mr.Chebchoub paid respect to Stevan Labudovic, cameraman of Filmski Novosti, (died on 25 november 2017), who had contributed through the picture to make the truth about the Algerian war known, to raise sympathy of the international public opinion and contradict the colonial propaganda.
The guests could taste delights of the Algerian gastronomic heritage, namely a delicious Algerian couscous, the
Algerian sweets with honey and almonds and of course, very much appreciated Algerian dates.
