Eighth Belgrade Counterpoint – Culture, Art and Artificial Intelligence

The Eighth Belgrade Counterpoint, which this year is called “Culture, Art and Artificial Intelligence”, will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Yugoslav Cinematheque (Sala Makavejev, Uzun Mirkova 1), starting at 11 a.m.

“Belgrade Counterpoint” organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia as the initiator and the Institute for the Study of Cultural Development as the implementer is an international gathering whose goal is to bring together artists and thinkers from different parts of the world.

The theme of this year’s Belgrade Counterpoint is the development of artificial intelligence, which represents one of the biggest social, cultural, security, and even anthropological challenges of our time. At the meeting, we will be primarily interested in how the development of artificial intelligence – without apocalyptic forecasts but also without neglecting possible problems – will affect the self-determination of man, his culture and society. Also, does creativity, culture and art belong exclusively to humans, or is it possible to talk about the (independent) creative, cultural and artistic activity of artificial intelligence? We are also interested in what role it can play in human creativity, whether it can be useful in the design and realization of artistic and cultural products, as well as what is its role in the field of cultural heritage and cultural research?

The gathering will be opened by Lav Grigorije Pajkić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia.

The participants of this year’s Belgrade Counterpoint are:

Alfie Bown – Senior Lecturer in Digital Media Culture and Technology at King’s College London;
