With more than 2,000 entities registered in the media register, Serbia is one of the leaders in Europe by number of media outlets, but the state has not yet carried out a sectoral analysis of the media market, without which it is difficult to confirm any indication that there is distortion of competition and non-transparent state aid, is one of the conclusions of the meeting “Media Competition” organized by Civic Initiatives and NALED at the Human Rights House.
Public-private dialogue initiated by the coordinators of the working group of the National Convention on the European Union for Chapter 8 in support of the formulation of the negotiating position is also important due to the fact that the adoption of a new media strategy is underway and it is not known in which market the media operate. It is certain that the state is still a very influential factor in their financing.
