Ericsson predicts that by 2023 there will be a billion users of 5G technology in the world through advanced mobile internet services. This and other results of the traditional Ericsson Mobile Research Report were presented in Belgrade at a media event.
Currently, LTE (Long-Term Evolution) or 4G is on the right track to become the dominant mobile technology, and the Ericsson Mobility report estimates that by the end of 2023, this technology will have more than 5.5 billion users, representing 85% of the world’s population. Antonio Passarella, director of markets for Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia at Ericsson, stressed that Serbia follows this trend because LTE, i.e. 4G technology, is becoming more and more frequent in the domestic telecommunications market and that all three operators are continuously working on its implementation. Passarella added that Serbia is working to align the regulatory framework with the European Union and liberalise market conditions in order to meet the growing and increasingly sophisticated needs of digital technology users for fast and reliable communications.
