Flights to Egypt Restarted

“Regular flights landed in Egypt on July 1, 2020, after the decision to resume air traffic, including incoming tourists to Egypt”, said Amr Aljowaily, Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia adding that Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar conducted an inspection tour of passenger terminals and buildings at Cairo International Airport, to monitor precautionary measures and preventive controls applied within the buildings.

The Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation reviewed efforts to enhance the readiness of Egyptian airports to apply all the necessary standards and controls to protect both travelers and employees to counter the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

“The national carrier, EgyptAir, operated a number of flights to many different destinations, in Europe, North America, the Gulf countries and some other Arab countries” confirmed Amr Aljowaily, Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia, while noting that “meanwhile, Air Cairo has sent circulars to tour operators and travel agents in Serbia regarding proposed schedules, prices and regulations’.

The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that Hurghada International Airport also received its first flight from the Ukrainian capital Kiev with approximately 172 passengers on board, while Sharm El Sheikh International Airport also received another flight from Kiev with approximately 182 passengers on board.

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities had already announced the precautionary measures including the necessity of passengers to sign a declaration at the airport of departure, and PCR test for tourists within 48 hours from the date of departure from countries that the World Health Organization had declared as facing a pandemic. The Ministry has also detailed the preventive measures when boarding the aircraft of Egyptian airlines, such as but not limited totally, sterilization before flight, obligatory face masks during the flight, allocating places for people with chronic diseases, in addition to precautionary measures upon arrival at the airports whose premises would be sterilized, and obligatory masks for all employees, and installing electronic gates that collectively reveal the temperature for passengers. The Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia Amr Aljowaily highlighted that the Embassy is committed to promote tourism between the Republic of Serbia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, building on the fruitful participation as Partner Country at the latest Belgrade International Tourism Fair held from February 20th to 23rd 2020. “Bilateral Tourism is a friendship between Serbia and Egypt!”, he concluded.
