Independence Day, or the Fourth of July, was celebrated in Belgrade at the residence of the US ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Christopher Hill. This federal holiday marks the most important day in US history when on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was ratified by the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia.
“Our friends in Serbia, we want to understand you better. We look forward to building long-term relations based on our shared values and common interests. We want to be friends; we want to be partners, and, depending on your determinations in the future, we want to be allies,” ambassador Hill said in his speech to all distinguished guests.
The reception was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, prime minister Ana Brnabić, president of the National assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, and many others.
