The Embassy of Egypt in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Association of Corporate Directors and Serbian Business Club “Privrednik”, organized a High-Level Roundtable for promoting investment in Africa, with participation of Heads of Missions accredited in Belgrade. During the opening speech, Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia, Amr Aljowaily, focused on economic priorities that are on the agenda of Egypt’s current presidency of the African Union and the launch of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) during the last summit.
Aljowaily extended the invitation from Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to participate in Africa 2019 Investment for Africa Forum taking place from 22-23, November 2019 at the New Administrative Capital in Egypt, emphasizing that the Forum will be held in the context of series of activities that will promote infrastructure projects in Africa and allow access in this promising field to Business Sector in Serbia and furthermore Balkan region.
On their behalf, representatives of Serbian companies expressed their appreciation for the recent activities organized for strengthening economic relations between Africa and the Balkans, which included first Business Conference hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia on September 30, welcoming the suggestion of Joint Egyptian-Serbian Business Council to host next conference in Cairo. The African Ambassadors in Belgrade informed the participants on opportunities for investment and trade between their countries and Serbia, including the establishment of negotiations for free trade.
