At the conference “Environmental Protection – Waste Management”, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), attended by Environment Minister Goran Trivan, US Ambassador H.E. Kyle Scott and representatives of AmCham member companies, it was concluded that the establishment of a more effective regulatory framework for waste management is of utmost importance for the preservation of the environment, as well as for the process of Serbia’s accession to the European Union.
The conference discussed the extended liability of manufacturers in the field of packaging and packaging waste, as well as in the area of special waste streams. President of the AmCham Committee on the Environment Dragan Lupšić emphasized that” it is necessary, through the synergy of the efforts of the state, economy and local self-governments, to contribute to the development of regulations and their application in order for Serbia to achieve desired and sustainable ecological goals.” “The United States strongly supports the Government of Serbia and its efforts to join the European Union, and comprehensive reforms through which Serbia meets European standards for environmental protection” said Kyle Scott.
