The first edition of “IFIB – Italian Fashion in Belgrade”, a manifestation dedicated to promoting Italian fashion in Serbia, was opened with a press conference at the Italian ambassador’s residence. As part of this initiative, which was designed and implemented by the Italian Embassy in Belgrade in cooperation with the Italian Institute for Culture in Serbia and the Fabrika agency of Vesna Mandić, numerous events dedicated to “Made in Italy” fashion will be organized, which will take place in Belgrade, from April until June
IFIB intends to present the Italian fashion industry to the Serbian public from different angles: theater and music, workshops and seminars, tradition and handwork, sustainability and innovation, fashion shows, women’s empowerment, design, and film.
On April 26, the event will be opened by a gala concert at the National Theater dedicated to fashion designer Renato Balestra, with original costumes he created for the Belgrade Opera. Then, in the Ethnographic Museum, on May 5, the exhibition “Italy is in fashion” will be opened, organized by Stefano Dominella, where 50 iconic dresses of Italian fashion will be exhibited. From May 6 to 9, these same dresses will be the protagonists in the Yugoslav Cinematheque, where several films in which they were worn, which made them part of the social consciousness and history of fashion and cinematography, will be shown.
The VII Day of Italian Design, which will be held on May 8 at the Museum of Applied Art, will also be dedicated to fashion when a seminar by Euđenia Morpurgo and Tamara Jarić will be held.
The IFIB program includes the “Patrizia Pepe” and “Dress for Success” fashion shows, as well as workshops dedicated to Italian tradition and handwork. Among others, there is the “Salon of Excellence” on May 18, on the topic of Italian tailoring, organized by Aleksandar Đorđević, and on June 6, a seminar dedicated to the role of the Versace and Don Della Rosa families in fashion and art.
“The audience in Serbia is in love with Italian fashion. The launch of the first ‘IFIB – Italian Fashion in Belgrade’ will allow them to get to know even better the creativity, quality, and many variations of ‘Made in Italy’ fashion, a sector that is constantly growing in the world, with exports exceeding 80 billion euros in 2022. , said the ambassador of Italy in Serbia, Luca Gori.
