We have managed to adequately organize and restart the production, while providing full protection for our employees, considering that we export over 50% of our products to overseas markets in more than 15 countries.
“We have donated more than 100 tonnes of products from our range (liquid and powder detergent, fabric softeners, dishwashing liquids, etc.). With these donations, our company wants to help and support the effort of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and our health care system in these difficult circumstances for the entire country,” says Maja Čečavac, Director General of Beohemija, adding the company’s employees will continue to be paid full wages.
How did you organize your business activities and communication with your business partners and clients?
Beohemija is one of the leaders in the production of detergents and household cleaners, both in the country and the region. The government’s initial measures called for the suspension of exports of all essential food products, however, our effective reaction and obtaining an export license yielded results. We have managed to adequately organize and restart the production while providing full protection of our employees. Considering that we export over 50% of our products to overseas markets in more than 15 countries, continued production and export are of paramount importance for our business system. All of our employees will continue to be paid full wages, regardless of them working online from home or in the company’s production plant.
We have undertaken all measures to protect our employees from the coronavirus and in cooperation with the local utility company in Zrenjanin, where our production facilities are located, we have completely disinfected the factory. Disinfection and checks are carried out daily and the members of our crisis centre meet regularly.
How important is it for companies to stand in solidarity and help in these extraordinary circumstances?
We would like to use this opportunity to say that, that from the onset of the pandemic to date, we have provided assistance and support in the form of donations to local communities, crisis headquarters and hospitals. We have donated more than 100 tonnes of products from our range (liquid and powder detergent, fabric softeners, dishwashing liquids, etc.).
With these donations, our company wants to help and support the effort of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and our health care system in these difficult circumstances for the entire country. Support and assistance of all those companies and individuals that can provide it is crucial in moments like these. As a socially responsible company, Beohemija respects and has always followed the principles of solidarity and humanity.
How do you spend your private time during the pandemic?
I adhere to the measures that apply to all our citizens and behave responsibly towards myself and others. Since I spend most of my day communicating with my co-workers, using the benefits of modern technology, I use the downtime to read books that relax me.
What are the first steps you will make after the state of emergency is cancelled?
Abolishing the state of emergency and life returning to normal will be a relief for our company, in terms of smooth running of all business processes, from the procurement of raw materials and exporting to foreign markets, as well as resuming the implementation of strategic projects that our company has planned for 2020. The next thing for us is the launch of the new Duel home care line and a luxury series of fabric softeners.
