The ceremony of granting French Medals of Academic Palms in the rank of Knight was held on Monday 20 June at the French Embassy Residence, and the medals were given by H E Christine Moro, the French Ambassador to Serbia.
The winners of the Medal of Academic Palms in the rank of Knight are:
– Mr. Pavle Kovačević, a surgeon of the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, professor at the University of Novi Sad
– Mr. Bratislav Krstić, principal of the school in Pirot
Order of Academic Palms on behalf of the French Ministry of Education is usually presented to outstanding personalities who have contributed and continue to contribute to the spread of knowledge and strengthening the ties that unite the two countries. This medal, established more than 200 years ago, is awarded to the French and foreigners for their scientific and professional dedication and for their contribution to strengthening the reputation of France in the world. Founder of the medals, Napoleon Bonaparte has established it in recognition of the eminent members of the University of Paris. Since 1866 the recognition can be given to the foreign nationals. Since 1955 the Order of Academic Palms has had three ranks: knight, officer and commander.
