“Singers United” international choir was founded in March 2018 and this is their fourth concert to be hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute.
Choir members come from the diplomatic and international community and other Serbian choirs – these are people from 12 countries from all over the world singing together!
The repertoire ranges from traditional, classical, medieval to contemporary and rock, and the songs are in Serbian, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Macedonian, Finnish, Old Norwegian and Latin.
“Singers United” hosts at least two concerts in Belgrade per year, and participates at fund-raising events, choir festivals, sing-along concerts and competitions. They work together with other Serbian and international choirs and choir’s mission is to donate all funds collected at concerts to charities in Serbia.
On this occasion “Singers United” has joined the World Choral Day initiative – an international choral event that cherishes the values of solidarity, peace and understanding. It was founded in 1990 by Alberto Grau, from the Latin American Vice-Presidency of the International Federation for Choral Music, where millions of singers across the globe have been involved in World Choral Day concerts, festivals, sing-alongs, choral seminars, Days of Friendship and other events during the month of December. And “Singers United” were the first choir from Serbia to register for “World Choral Day” this year!
The concert programme is somewhat different to the usual repertoire – so there are a number of surprises lined up for the evening, including a guest choir!
The proceeds from this concert will go to “Vozači velikog srca Srbija”, who provide support to families with disabled children and people with mental or physical disability.
Please note there is no ticket sale for this concert and that admission is free. However, donation boxes will be provided.
