“I can’t wait to get back to Nordeus Hub and catch up in person with all the teams that are working there. In our Booster program, we are hosting 18 teams that are developing their own games and we are supporting them in that process. As for everybody, this period is very challenging for them, but they are doing their best to work on their games”, said Miloš Paunović, Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist at Nordeus
How did you organize your work and communication with partners during this period?
With over 160 people in a number of different teams who are working on multiple projects, we are trying to keep the days, as it would be if we were all in the office. We foster collaboration through brainstorms, workshops, conversations, and meetings with the help of Zoom and other collaborative software such as G Suite, Mural, virtual whiteboards, and sticky notes. We focused more energy on internal comms to bring engagement across the company and to ensure the whole team is aligned. We are having regular All-Hands meetings with every single member of the team present, which helps us, understand what is happening across the company and teams. By working in a global digital industry, we were already communicating with many of our partners online so the transition in that area was natural and quick. As days go by we are getting better and better and more efficient in remote working and organization, but new challenges are always there and we are trying to figure them out but also having constantly in mind how this situation is impacting each of us and our families.
How is it important for companies to give back in these times?
In the situation when the world as we know is changing and adapting to contain the pandemic, the size of the impact this will have on our society is only just becoming visible. I think it’s crucial, more than ever, for everybody to be empathic and try to help in any way possible they can. For companies, first, that means putting their people first and taking care of them and their families, and then finding a way to help the community by giving back goods, funds, connections, influence. For us in Nordeus, giving back is in our DNA, and by taking an active role, we wanted to lead by example and motivate others to get involved. I hope we did it and that it will make a difference
How do you spend your non-work time during a pandemic?
When I am not working, I am mostly doing things that help me relax and take my mind off from thinking about the situation we are in. I am trying to catch up and play all the games I didn’t have time before. Games are a great way for me to stay in touch with my friends and spend some quality time with them by playing together. Besides that, I watch tv shows on Netflix, cook and try to exercise.
What are the first next steps you will take when everything is over?
I can’t wait to get back to Nordeus Hub and catch up in person with all the teams that are working there. In our Booster program, we are hosting 18 teams that are developing their own games and we are supporting them in that process. As for everybody, this period is very challenging for them, but they are doing their best to work on their games and the progress they made is already very visible. Their games are starting to get their first prototypes, which is a super exciting period for the teams, and I am looking forward to trying all of them when we go through this.
