Led by its founder and a prominent humanist Miodrag Kostić, MK Group has decided to give away a free three-day vacation for medical workers in Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia. During June, July and August, doctors and medical staff of the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases in Belgrade, Clinical Center of Vojvodina, Covid Hospitals in Ljubljana, Maribor, Celje, Golnik and Zagreb will be able to rest and relax in luxury Grand Hotel in Kopaonik, Kempinski Palace in Portorož and Kempinski Hotel Adriatic in Savudrija.
During the handover ceremony of a donation for doctors and medical staff from Serbia, Dr Zlatibor Lončar, the Minister of Health in the Government of the Republic of Serbia pointed out: “I would like to thank MK Group for having health workers on its radar and also to thank them for enabling the medical workes to recover from the hard work they have put forth, from what they have done so far and the results they have achieved. I am sure their stay will help them recover well and return to their duties of providing health care to our citizens”, the Minister of Health pointed out.
“The corona virus pandemic has shown that the corporate social responsibility is not and cannot be just an expression of the goodwill of companies, but that it is a necessity if we want to have a humane and responsible society. With this idea, MK Group has provided a free three-day vacation for 450 doctors and other medical staff in its hotels in Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia during the summer. We are especially glad that we will host 250 employees of the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases in Belgrade and the Clinical Center of Vojvodina in our Grand Hotel in Kopaonik. This will be our small contribution in the fight against the pandemic and at the same time an expression of our profound gratitude for the enormous burden laid upon the doctors and other medical staff in that fight”, said Jovan Purar, Director of MK Group.
Docent Dr Goran Stevanović, Director of the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases at the Clinical Center of Serbia, praised this gesture of appreciation and respect for medical workers. “Staying in your hotel will mean a lot to the health workers who have not had a single day off for months. Thank you for recognizing our importance and efforts, and also for finding strength within your capabilities to indirectly contribute to the fight against the virus”, said Docent Dr Stevanović, during the presentation of vouchers for the stay of doctors and medical staff of the Clinic for Infectious and Infectious and Tropical Diseases.
The Director of the Clinical Center of Vojvodina, Prof. Dr Edita Stokić, said that she was glad MK Group decided to award and pay tribute to our medical workers and added: „I would like to thank you for enabling our health workers to rest and relax in your hotel and to enjoy the various activities this hotel provides and thus prepare for new tasks.“
Immediately upon the declaration of the state of emergency in the country, Miodrag Kostić, President of MK Group, joined the fight against the COVID-19 virus by handing over the accommodation capacities of hotels in Novi Sad to the Institute of Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”. Also, MK Group and its member companies set aside almost half a million euro for the purchase of medical equipment and humanitarian packages for the population of Serbia during the pandemic. At the same time, the mentioned companies made a decision not to use the package of economic measures arising from the decrees adopted by the Government to help the economy and thus left 5 million euro at the disposal to the budget of the Republic of Serbia. For the purpose of providing this free vacation for the doctors and medical staff across the region, the company set aside 200,000 euro, and this project represents the crown of all previous activities MK Group has realized during the pandemic caused by the corona virus.
