Qatar’s Statehood Day is celebrated tonight in Belgrade, and Ambassador Mubarak bin Fahad Al-Thani said that Serbia and Qatar are two fraternal states that bind friendly relations and that Qatar devotes special attention to strengthening bilateral co-operation with Serbia.
The Ambassador emphasized that Qatar welcomes the efforts of the Government of Serbia in achieving progress, economic development and ensuring a stable life for its people, as well as in strengthening the credibility of Serbia in the international community, applying the policy of moderation in dealing with all regional and international challenges.
“Qatar is paying special attention to strengthening bilateral co-operation with Serbia through the initialling of agreements reached and intensifying the exchange of visits of high officials of the two countries,” Al Thani said, stressing that Serbia and Qatar are two fraternal states that bind friendly relations.
“To Serbia, as well as to all fraternal and friendly nations, I want progress and prosperity,” the ambassador said.
The ceremonies of the National Day of Qatar at the Hajat Hotel were attended by, in particular, Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic, Serbian Secretary General Nikola Selakovic, Citizens’ Protector Zoran Pasalic, President of the Justice and Reconciliation Party Muamer Zukorlic, representatives of the diplomatic corps, political and public life.
Statehood Day of Qatar is celebrated on Dec. 18, since on that day in 1878, Sheikh Yashim bin Mohamed Al-Thani brought the state towards unity.
