On Thursday, September 6th 2018, West Truck d.o.o. held a panel entitled “Technology of natural energy – the future of transport in Serbia and Italy” . The panel was also supported by Confindustria Serbia, the Italian business association operating in Serbia since 2012.
The aim of this panel was to discuss at the presence of relevant stakeholders the topic of sustainable and safe transportation systems, with particular reference to the use of natural gas and so-called “green” fuels. The attendees were also given the opportunity to get more information about new IVECO vehicles, which are strongly committed to reducing the level of emissions and. Thanks to the brands IVECO, IVECO Bus and Heuliez Bus the company can fully meet the requirements for cleaner and more sustainable solutions.
Guest of honor at the panel was Mr. Pierre Lahutte, IVECO Brand President, who presented in detail not only the environmental but also the economic benefits of using a vehicle on a CNG or LNG drive. Lahutte also presented the current trends in the market, focusing on the geopolitical issues that will impact on the future of both fossil and cleaner fuels.
The presence of State Secretary Ivan Karic from the Ministry of Environmental Protection was useful to the public to understand, on the one hand, the position of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the field of “green” and sustainable transport, and on the other to highlight the need to present in a clearer way the economic advantages that a “cleaner” traffic could bring both to societies as well as companies.
The president West truck d.o.o, Andrija Bozovic, as well as the general director of the company Nebojsa Gajic, presented in detail all the benefits and possibilities offered by using IVECO vehicles on CNG and LNG drive.
Erich Cossutta, president of Confindustria Serbia, specifically referred in his address to a comparative analysis of the situation in Italy and Serbia, suggesting a more proactive role for companies and industry in the dialogue with institutions. Stressing the need for better coordination of companies, institutions and experts from this sector, Confindustria Serbia will be organize a series of round tables on the topic. The association Confindustria Serbia will also pledge to introduce an additional number of bilateral licenses between Italy and Serbia, by promoting the introduction of a slot of “green permits” proposal for which Confindustria already received full support from the association ANITA, which brings together companies from the transport and logistics sector within the Confindustria.
At the end of the meeting, an official agreement was signed between West Truck d.o.o. and Kamenol Rakovac d.o.o, a company that bought ten IVECO vehicles on CNG.
