Challenging times bring out the best in people. Carried by this idea, the members of the “NIS Volunteers Club” have been engaged in numerous activities since the outbreak of the COVID- 19 epidemic. They have continued their humanitarian work, showing humanity and
solidarity towards their citizens, neighbors, as well as the colleagues. A propos, the “NIS Volunteers Club” has existed for two years and now it gathers more than 500 members who are ready to engage for the benefit of the community, especially of the most vulnerable categories.
Volunteers have also shown their solidarity and empathy by employing their skills in making visors, one of the main tools for protecting medical staff, cloth protective face masks, by their participation in disinfection of public areas, and in the exchange of information that further expands the circle of solidarity. During all their activities, NIS volunteers apply protection measures that are in accordance with the
rules and recommendations of healthcare organizations – social distancing, the use of protective face masks, gloves, regular use of disinfectants and hand sanitizers and increased hygiene, especially the hand hygiene.
These days, one of the important topics for NIS volunteers is nurturing and developing the sense of community within the collective. That is why, among other things, they have designed online acting classes for the children of their colleagues, developed a system of internal exchange of knowledge and skills, and provided a kind of “psychological” workshop in these extraordinary circumstances, for all those in need of this kind of support.
In this way, NIS employees, members of the Volunteer Club, pointed out by their example, that in challenging times, socially responsible
engagement and solidarity are more important than ever, and that they are always ready to contribute to achieving wider social goals.
