Another must-see in Sombor is the silk damask weaving shop Novitet in Bezdan, than there are Suveniri Podunavlja in Sombor, Mali Bodrog ethno house in Bački Monoštor, Jelena ethno house in Bezdan, Stari Ribnjak and Pričajuća Prošlost in Čonoplja, Ružica ethno house in Riđica, Evo ethno house in Telečka, Museum Collection of Watches and Antiques in Telečka, Museum Collection of Perfume Bottles in Bezdan and Stapar Carpet Workshop in Stapar. Children will surely be interested in visiting the Miki Zoo in Kolut which is home to over 100 animal species. The renovated Museum of the Battle of Batin is another must-see location. The Association of Old Crafts and Handicrafts is located in Sombor and has 100 members from all over Serbia, who are certified artisans. Sombor is home to skilled stained-glass painters, gingerbread sweets makers, leather smiths, blacksmiths, weavers, wax workers, goldsmiths, restorers, as well as many other craftsmen who are nurturing the spirit of old times through their work. The famous Sombor cheese packaged in kačica (a wooden milk bucket) is made in Stapar from a mixture of sheep’s and cow’s milk, and it was a delicacy even in the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Lemeški kulen, prepared in a traditional way, is a cured meat delicacy produced in the village of Svetozar Miletić.
UNESCO biosphere reserve
The Gornje Podunavlje special nature reserve is the foundation of the development of fishing, hunting and excursion tourism in the vicinity of Sombor. Gornje Podunavlje is part of the UNESCO biosphere reserve, with many canals, backwaters, meadows and marsh forests. The village of Čonoplja is famous for its Čonopljansko Lake which is a real fishing paradise. Ecological classroom Baračka attracts visitors who cultivate a special interest in photo safaris, boat rides and bird watching.
