The Day of Portugal, officially known as Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas (Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities), is a national holiday in Portugal celebrated on June 10th. It commemorates the death of Luís de Camões, a revered Portuguese poet who is best known for his epic work “Os Lusíadas” (The Lusiads), which celebrates Portuguese history and achievements, particularly during the Age of Discoveries.
