According to the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, as many as 90 percent of girls in Serbia in elementary schools show interest in dealing with digital technologies, but that interest drops during secondary education, and in fact only 15 percent end up in that area.
With the event “Women’s perspective in technology” at the US Embassy, the successful completion of the three-month mentoring program “Women in Tech”, which was jointly implemented by the AmCham and the US Department of Commerce in Serbia, ICT Hub and Impact Hub. The event was attended by high school students from Belgrade, who had a unique opportunity to hear more about the professional experience of Tatjana Matić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, and Daniela Trkulja, the director of Gartner for Serbia. Within the ten-minute quick mentoring sessions that followed the interview, the students talked with “Women in Tech” about starting a career in technology, the most common challenges on the road to success, but also about the creative side of this industry.
