On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the ceasefire in the First World War, the Algerian Friendship Society and the Algerian Embassy in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans’ Affairs and Social Affairs, and with the support of the National Museum in Belgrade, organized the promotion of the book “The Serbian Military Cemetery in Algeria “, At the National Museum in Belgrade, on Monday, December 17, 2018.
The book “The Serbian Army Cemetery in Algeria” is a collection of works by prominent historians, diplomats and journalists on the Serbian World War I cemetery, located in Deli Ibrahim, in the city of Algeria, where 324 Serbian warriors who died in Algeria during treatment.
Zoran Đorđević, Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Abdelhamid Chebchoub, Algerian Ambassador to Serbia, Bojana Borić Brešković, Director of the National Museum in Belgrade, spoke at the promotion.
After the promotion of the book, an exhibition of photographs about the Serbian soldier’s armband, author Stevan Labudovic, a distinguished citizen of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria was opened, marking the anniversary of the death of a great Yugoslav film and photography.
The visitors, especially for this occasion, presented extremely rare Algerian books and photographs from the collection “Adligat”, within which the Book and Travel Museum and the Museum of Serbian Literature are working.
