Dialogue between the state and business: Successful webinar “The New Customs Law” held in cooperation with the Customs Administration of the Republic of Serbia

A webinar on the new Customs Law was held on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020, as a joint initiative of the Belgian-Serbian Business Association, the Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, and the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia.

The event gathered around 50 member-companies’ representatives. The participants were greeted by Ms. Nataša Mirković, acting assistant director – Coordinator for joint services of the Customs Administration, who pointed out the importance of the novelties brought by the new Customs Law, with the aim of enabling more efficient customs operations in order to meet the modern needs.

Mr. Slobodan Tomić, Coordinator for the implementation of customs procedures, at the Customs Procedures Division, Sector for Customs Procedures, the Customs Administration, presented the most important differences compared to the Customs Law from 2010, as well as the transition to paperless, modernized operations. After Mr. Tomić, Ms. Jovana Veljović, Independent Customs Advisor at the Department for AEO and Simplified Customs Procedures, presented the status of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), the benefits this status brings to companies, as well as the procedure for obtaining Authorized Economic Operator certification.

The participants also had the opportunity to hear further on the main novelties brought by the new Customs Law from Mr. Nebojša Jovanović, Tax Manager at Deloitte Serbia, while Mr. Ivan Milićević, Logistics Business Development Manager at Nelt shared the company’s topic related experience with the attendees.

The attendees were given the opportunity to get answers to their specific questions in a direct, constructive dialogue with the representatives of the Customs Administration, and improve their international business.
