Marking the season opening, representatives of the most relevant tourism institutions and organisations in Serbia visited Mt. Kopaonik. Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić said that Mt. Kopaonik was the least affected among tourist destinations during the coronavirus crisis because this destination registered the highest turnover in the first three months, achieving 50 percent of the annual number of accommodations per night and up to 70 percent in regard to guests from abroad. “We invest huge efforts in offering tourists with adequate activities and strive to overcome the issue of seasonality together with hotel businesses. I believe that as of July 10 the capacities will be full and that together we will accomplish results worthy of this destination. We are using this season to prepare Mt. Kopaonik and other destinations for a full recovery and, as of next week, work on constructing a gondola from Brzeće to Mt. Kopaonik will commence and thus we will execute the project of major relevance for the entire region,” said Ljajić. The Minister added that it was important for Mt. Kopaonik to join forces with other nearby destinations in order to achieve record-high results.

The fact that the interest of guests is higher than in previous years confirms the relevance of domestic tourism, particularly this year. “The dynamic of booking summer packages are already such that 10 to 20 percent more accommodations per night are expected in comparison to last year. At the opening of the summer season, the Grand Hotel capacities are full and we expect a high visit rate in the coming months as well and between 12 and 15 thousand guests by the end of the season. With attractive prices and elements and the implementation of the highest standards in regard to the safety of guests and employees, we have fully adjusted to the domestic market, and with the innovative offer and the concept of diverse several-day summer holiday, we aim to confirm the leadership reputation and present Mt. Kopaonik to even more potential visitors during summer months,” said Radoš Đorđević, General Manager of the MK Resort and the Grand Hotel & Spa.

Following all the precautionary measures and complying with the highest hotel standards, the Grand Hotel & Spa is ready for the new summer season, which has officially started today. This summer, visitors will enjoy the first-class service that the Grand Hotel is renowned for. They will have at disposal the new concept of family holiday and entertainment, with a special focus on the youngest guests, for whom a scout camp, forest ranger school, mini-ranch and all-day animation have been created. Due to high interest, a booking option using vouchers granted by the state has been provided for the first time.

The MK Group, the owner of the Grand Hotel & Spa, which has been operating successfully for 10 years now, has invested more than 50 million euros in the hotel and destination development, with a new three-year investment plan including more than 5 million euros for the renovation of the hotel capacities. This confirms that the company is a reliable partner to the local community, employees and the entire business sector in achieving a shared goal of further development of Mt. Kopaonik as one of the most significant tourist destinations in Serbia and the region.

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia Marko Čadež also underlined the importance of tourism for economic recovery, noting that the opening of the summer season was an especially important day for Mt. Kopaonik and Serbia after the crisis, which particularly affected the HoReCa sector. “I would like to invite our citizens to spend a summer holiday here, just like I will, and with that personal decision we can keep jobs of 300 people employed by the MK Group here at Mt. Kopaonik and their families,” said Čadež.

The Tourism Organisation of Serbia has for weeks been presenting all the natural beauties of our country, and Mt. Kopaonik, with everything it offers to visitors, represents the most attractive destination for tourists from both the country and the region. Marija Labović, Director of the Tourism Organisation of Serbia, pointed to the importance of presenting people with the option of spending high-quality time in Serbia. “In line with our campaign titled “Choose Your Adventure, See Serbia”, this destination deserves special attention. We hope that visitors will be satisfied with the vast offer prepared for them and that they will take only positive impressions from Mt. Kopaonik,” said Labović.

If you want a real holiday and natural beauties with a breath-taking view of the mountain peaks, Mt. Kopaonik is the right place for you. Furthermore, a vast hotel offer similar to the largest mounting centres, gastronomic delicacies, a spa zone for true hedonists will make your holiday memorable.
